NOVELL in 2023
2023 will be an even bigger year than the last for the NOVELL redesign project. We can’t wait to share our findings, processes, and recommendations with you and will be hosting three large showcases throughout the year – see dates and brief descriptions below.
This year will see the consolidation of our conceptual designs from the design workshops, and the finessing of these into practical design outputs. We’ll also be starting to evaluate the various design options in coming months, so stay tuned for opportunities to contribute to this process.
At the end of 2022 we ran two technology workshops, one in Adelaide, and one in Melbourne. These were held in collaboration with our technology partner, Stantec, and yielded some really interesting insights. We are currently using these insights as the basis for the development of a brief for wearable technologies and more spatially-integrated tech-based systems to assist stroke survivors in their rehabilitation.
If you haven’t already, make sure you sign-up to become a NOVELL project member via our Resources page to receive reminders and invites to attend our workshops and showcases.
Showcase 1: 17th April 2023
This showcase will include us sharing and seeking feedback on:
Findings from the 2022 Tech workshops
Our experiential brief (Rehabilitation futures documents) that we developed from the phase 1 blue-sky thinking workshops
A framework for evaluating healthcare environment designs, and spreadsheet of evaluation methods
Citizen science approaches to post occupancy evaluation (in collaboration with Masters students from Swinburne University)
Showcase 2: 21st August 2023
This showcase will include us sharing and seeking feedback on:
Finalised stroke rehabilitation care pathway maps
Findings from our Neuroarchitecture systematic literature review
Student Design Competition in collaboration with UIA - winning designs.
Showcase 3 and final exhibition: November 2023 (date YTBC)
This final exhibition will showcase all NOVELL outputs including the final built environment design options and an economic analysis. It’s going to be huge!
