About the presenter:

Dr. Maja Kevdzija, EDAC is an Assistant Professor in Healthcare Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Planning at TU Wien, Austria. She was educated as an architect (Bachelor and Master studies) and her interest in rehabilitation environments developed during her Master studies at TU Delft. She started research in this field with an individual PhD scholarship from the European Social Fund (ESF) and obtained her PhD at the Faculty of Architecture at Technische Universität Dresden, Germany in 2020. Her research study on mobility-supporting rehabilitation clinics for stroke patients was awarded several national and international awards, most notably the Healthcare Environment Award 2020 (USA), the 2021 European Healthcare Design Award in the Design Research category (UK) and the 2021 EDRA Certificate of Research Excellence (CORE) with Merit Status (USA). Her research focuses on improving built environments for recovery after a stroke, with the newest project investigating the role of the (in)formal built environments of care in the experiences of those affected by childhood stroke as a rare disease. She is also currently involved in the development of the new international postgraduate Master Program Healthcare Facilities (MSc), jointly organized by the TU Wien and the Medical University of Vienna ( https://www.tuwien.at/en/ace/masters-programs/msc-healthcare-facilities)
